Praça do Comércio

Praça do Comércio is one of the most iconic places in Lisboa, Portugal. Located at the mouth of the Tagus River, it used to be the main entrance to the city. It was built in the 18th century and today is one of the main attractions of the city. It is a large square and it is surrounded by colorful buildings and monuments. When you go there, your eyes won't be able to move away from the huge arches and the busts on the arches of triumph.The square also has an impressive viewpoint, the "Terreiro do Paço" (Palace Square), where you can get an amazing view of the entire square and the Tagus. Praça do Comércio is full of restaurants, cafes and small bars so you can enjoy some local food specialties or drink a glass of port wine. Don't forget to take a stroll around the square, you'll find one of the oldest bookstores in the city, and be aware of the different activities such as markets and street shows that are organized in the square from time to time.
