The Petersberg-Tunnel, located in the small town of Bremm in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, is a narrow, 1300-metre long tunnel built through a mountain in 1812. It is part of the historic main road from Koblenz to Trier, which was constructed by Napoleon's troops in 1810. The arch, which is entirely made of basalt and formed from hard sedimentary rock, is impressive in its beauty. It is believed that the tunnel is the oldest of its kind in the whole of Europe. It was used for military campaigns and as an transport for goods up until the mid-20th century, after which the tunnel's narrow width made it obsolete. Today, the tunnel is the site of breathtaking views of the Moselle Valley and the viniculture that surrounds it. A visit to the tunnel is sure to be a unique pleasure, as it offers visitors an insight into the fascinating history of the area. Visitors can enjoy a walk throughout the tunnel and take in the natural wonders of Bremm. It is definitely a must-see destination for those visiting the area!
