Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque is considered to be one of the most beautiful mosques in Southeast Asia. It is a golden-domed masterpiece which was built in memory of the 28th Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien III. It houses the tomb of the Sultan, as well as the tombs of various members of the royal family. It is a significant symbol of Islamic faith and culture in Brunei, and has become an iconic landmark which attracts visitors from all over the world. The mosque features a large marble floor, intricately hand-crafted, ceramic tiles, traditional Islamic calligraphy. It is said to feature some of the most intricate and beautiful ornamentation in the world. Visitors are welcome to explore the homestead and the gardens around it, but will also have to abide by a dress code (no shorts, superficial dresses or flipflops) that applies to both men and women. There is a security guard at the entrance, to make sure that guidelines are observed.
