Hooker Valley Track

The Hooker Valley Track is one of the finest short walks located in Canterbury, New Zealand. The track weaves its way through the Aoraki\/Mount Cook National Park, presenting visitors with an opportunity to take in stunning alpine views from the valley floor. Along the way, Hooker Lake, where glacial melt waters collect, is especially impressive and offers great photo opportunities. The track is very well-marked and takes around 2-3 hours to complete, depending on which route you take. The terrain is generally flat but at a few points you’ll need some agility to cross the swing bridges that span the Hooker River. Guided walks can be organized and there are several rest areas complete with benches along the route. Come prepared with sun protection and bottled water, as well as sturdy, closed shoes. All in all, Hooker Valley Track is an absolute must-see if you are visiting Canterbury – it is truly breathtaking!
