High Light Lighthouse
📍 Iz Zuidstraat, Netherlands
High Light is the tallest lighthouse in the Netherlands and stands 16.5 meters above sea level. It was built in 1830, after a visit by King Willem I, to replace a 17th-century structure. It is made of brick and is painted white, with its bright red light visible up to 12 nautical miles away. Visitors will find it a tranquil spot, with views of the North Sea and the nearby beach. There is a small park next to the lighthouse, where you can relax, but be aware that the area gets crowded in summer. Make sure to also look for the Bronze Age "hunebed" near the lighthouse. It is the oldest piece of architecture ever found on Dutch soil and a true testament to the area's rich history.
