Cube Houses

The fascinating Cube Houses were designed by Dutch architect Piet Blom in the 1970s and are considered landmark architecture. Built to stand on pillars above a parking lot, the houses are part of a larger municipality called Blaakse Bos, part of the town of Rotterdam. The complex was designed to be a residential area but also served as a public space. It consists of 38 cubes, all with the same dimensions but in different shapes and levels. Each cube consists of three stories and is connected to each other in a rotating fashion. Visitors can explore the complex from the outside and explore the connecting corridors and take pictures of the unique designs. If you are lucky, you may even get to meet some of the friendly people who live in Cube Houses and get a glimpse into their home. If you're feeling adventurous, you can climb the tight staircase inside the cubes and take some unusual photos with your camera.
