Buque Museo Fragata Presidente Sarmiento
📍 Iz Puente de la Mujer, Argentina
In the Puerto Madero neighbourhood of Buenos Aires you will find the Buque Museo Fragata Presidente Sarmiento which was a 3 masted sailing vessel that served as a training ship in the Argentine Navy. It was launched in Villa María in 1898, and it operated until 1925. This very well preserved ship is now a museum that houses a collection of maritime and maritime-related objects.

Visitors will be able to explore 7 of the original decks and 26 cabins preserved with artefacts from the ship's life such as uniformes, flags and charts. Permanent exhibitions offer insight about the ship´s technical specifications and its service through the years. Touring the vessel includes a visit to its library made out of ancient texts, photos, maps and oil paintings from the period. One of the highlights of this museum is the San Martin crypt and chapel, which was used for the funerals of crew members who lost their lives during service. It´s free to visit this chapel and open to the public.
