Train Semaphore

The Train Semaphore and 46 St-Bliss St Station in Long Island City, New York City, United States, is a photogenic piece of history in an otherwise modern city. Its 19th century semaphore and signals hark back to the old days of rail travel, while the station remains one of the busiest train stations in the country. The semaphore and station are located on 46th Street and Bliss Street, and have been restored to its original glory. You can admire the structures that have been beautifully repainted in their original colors, while walking along the tracks and marveling at the view of Manhattan from this corner of Queens. It’s great for landscape and architectural photography, although the train and semaphore are only in motion for about 20 minutes a day.
