Opatovská jaskyňa

Located near Trenčín Castle, Opatovská jaskyňa and Parking is worth a visit for history buffs and nature lovers alike. Opatovská Cave was discovered in 1851 and is the largest of the many caves located in the area. It is 120 m long and consists of four chambers, each containing calcite and quartz formations. Sections of this cave are composed of flowstones, stalactites, stalagmites, draperies and other interesting rock formations. It is home to rare species of bats and many other interesting animals and plants. At one end of the cave, there is an entrance to an underground river, which further adds to its mystery. The cave is open for exploration and guided tours to visitors during the summer months. The parking lot nearby provides access to a variety of hiking trails and scenic overlooks, with breathtaking views of the Castle and the surrounding hills.
