Mt Jefferson from Mt Hood

Mt Jefferson is a dormant stratovolcano located at Government Camp in the Cascade Mountain Range of Oregon, United States. With an elevation of 4057m (13321ft) it is the second highest peak in Oregon. On the north slopes of Mt Jefferson lies an ancient caldera and a large forested area - the Jefferson Park. The mountain offers incredible views of the local sandstone and the snow-covered peaks of the Cascades like Mt Hood, the second highest peak in Oregon, which can be seen from the trails of Mt Jefferson. From the summit of Mt Jefferson hikers can traverse to the higher peak of Mt Hood through the Timberline Lodge, one of the most impressive buildings in Oregon with a mesmerizing view of the surrounding area.
