Laguna Turquesa

Laguna Turquesa is located in the Andes Mountains of Argentina and is an incredible sight to behold. The lake is two kilometers away from the famous Andean National Park and is surrounded by numerous waterfalls and three different mountain peaks. It is said that because of the intense blue and green colors of the lake, the Incas called it Laguna Turquesa, which literally translates to Turquoise Lake.

Laguna Turquesa is a popular tourist destination throughout the year for its breathtaking views of the Andes. From the lookout point, visitors can enjoy marvelous sunsets in a mix of orange, gold, pink, and purple colors. The mountain range, spring foliage and glacial river make this destination ideal for nature lovers and photographers. The best places to take a few photos are at the lookout point, at the silence of the lake and at the multiple nearby waterfalls. Hikers and riders can choose between many different paths, going around the lake or to the viewpoint, enjoying the stunning scenery at each step. It is also possible to rent a kayak and enjoy a quite dip in the cold waters. The area surrounding Laguna Turquesa is home to many different species of birds, such as eagles, condors and hummingbirds, making it a great destination for birdwatchers. Additionally, the lake is considered a sacred site by the local indigenous communities, and they perform several rituals at its shore.
