Fort Rammekens

Fort Rammekens is a coastal fortification in Ritthem, Netherlands. It is located in the Zeeland region and overlooks the Westerschelde estuary. The fort was built in the early 17th century and was expanded several times up to the 19th century. The fort features impressive brick walls, four bastions, a fortification entrance, a dry moat and various artillery positions. Visitors can explore the ramparts, moat and bastions, as well as visit the small museum within the fort. The nearby Nature Reserve De Kooiput is also worth visiting for its impressive birdlife and other wildlife. Fort Rammekens is open to visitors daily from April through October.
