Fontenay Abbey - Dovecote

Fontenay Abbey – Dovecote in Marmagne, France, is the last standing building of an 11th-century Benedictine Monastery. Built of limestone with a white plastered round tower and a wooden cone roof, it is an impressive sight to behold. Rebuilt in the 19th century, the dovecot housed the Monastery’s pigeons, favoured for their eggs and meat. The dovecot’s glazed tiles and stained glass windows provide unique opportunities to capture unique photos in expected locations. The ancient surroundings of the Abbey and the surrounding French countryside provide plenty of untouchable beauty to explore and admire. The Abbey is also renowned for its hosting of concerts and festivals throughout the year.
