Duomo

The Duomo in Firenze, Italy is a beautiful cathedral that stands as an iconic architectural monument in the city. It was constructed between 1296 and 1436 and features a unique architecture of pink, green and white marble. The Duomo, or Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, dominates the skyline of Florence, with its impressive dome, the largest of its kind in the world when it was built. Visitors can enjoy the stunning views of the city from atop the 414 steps leading to the viewing platform. The interior of the Duomo contains a stunning ceiling painting, Renaissance sculptures and works of art including frescoes by Giorgio Vasari. The Duomo also houses several ancient tombs and monuments, such as the remains of Brunelleschi. The outside facade is adorned with numerous statues, ornaments and carvings.
