Coral Pink Sand Dunes

The Coral Pink Sand Dunes are an iconic landmark located in Kane County, Utah, within the Kanab Canyon Recreation Area. Hiking through the dramatic crimson dunes, with the sand sometimes reaching hundreds of feet in depth, is a mesmerizing experience. The dunes are composed of the Princeton Sand, which is made up of quartz, feldspar, and other materials that were eroded from nearby pink Limestone and red sandstone. Visitors can go horseback riding, 4WDing, sightseeing and take photos, although guided ATV tours are currently unavailable due to COVID-19 restrictions. The area is surrounded by desert and views of canyon land, filled with vegetation and interesting wildlife. Visitors should plan to stay a few hours, as the park closes at nightfall.
