Cathedral of Saint Nicholas' Door

The Cathedral of Saint Nicholas' Door in Prešov, Slovakia is a landmark of great historical importance. Located on the ancient trade route that connected many parts of medieval Europe, the cathedral was once visited by pilgrims and travelers from all over. It was built in the 16th century and is a wonderful example of late Gothic architecture. Its main entrance, the Door of Saint Nicholas, is intricately carved with symbols and figures of Bible stories. The façade of the cathedral has statues of the four evangelists and over 100 figures depicting the life of Jesus Christ. Inside the cathedral is a rare painting by the master of Renaissance painting Martine Schöner showing the final judgment of the souls. The vibrant colors of the painting make it one of the most popular attractions in the city.
