The Sanctuary of Christ the King is a tall white structure located on the south bank of the Tagus River in Almada, Portugal. Standing at nearly 30m tall, the sanctuary is a stunning example of neo-Byzantine architecture and makes for an impressive view from many angles. Inside, visitors can explore the crypt and its many religious artifacts, including several sculptures and antique pieces. For a more expansive experience, there is a grand staircase that leads to the top of the monument, where visitors are treated to breathtaking views of the river and surrounding area. Visitors can also explore the gardens and grounds, which feature fountains, sculptures, Mediterranean plants and views of the Tagus River. The Sanctuary of Christ the King is a must-see attraction for any visitor to Almada.
