The Plaza Mayor de Chinchón, located in the small town of Chinchón just south of Madrid, is a charming and picturesque square full of history. It is an example of a preserved Baroque architecture with its symmetrical houses, all of which are adjoined by an arcade. Since 1580, the Plaza Mayor has been the most important gathering place of the town. An impressive fountain made of stone, called a 'lavadero' is located in the centre of the square.
