The Hollywood Sign is perhaps one of the most iconic of all Los Angeles landmarks. The iconic sign, located in the hills of Los Angeles, CA, can be seen from many parts of the city. It was originally created in 1923 by American film moguls to promote their real estate venture, but it has since become a symbol of the movie industry and life in Los Angeles. Today it is easily accessible to visitors, and countless photos and videos have been taken over the decades. There is a viewing platform at the nearby Hollywood and Highland Center, where visitors can see the sign in its entirety and make sure to get that perfect shot. Visitors can also get a closer view of the classic sign by taking the short hike up to the Hollywood sign. Be aware that the hike can be strenuous and can take up to three hours round trip.
