Farol da Barra is a lighthouse located in the Barra neighborhood of Salvador, the capital of the Brazilian state of Bahia. Its structure is one of the city's most iconic landmarks and is a popular tourist attraction. Built in 1849, the lighthouse was the first guide for ships in the area and is still operational today, standing at 30m and offering visitors striking views of the surrounding region. On the grounds of the lighthouse stands a fort, which hosted a garrison during Salvador's colonial years and is now open for visitors. There is also an elaborate system of canals, bridges and aqueducts which are a sight to behold, as well as the lighthouse's own observation deck. Farol da Barra is an amazing place to explore both historically and visually and provides the perfect photo opportunity for any nature enthusiast or traveler.
