Duomo di Siena Porta del Cielo and Facciatone is one of the most impressive sights in Siena, Italy. It is located in the historic center of Siena, in Piazza del Duomo, and consists of a 12th century Romanesque-Gothic Cathedral surrounded by Renaissance structures. The impressive facade is formed by a mosaic of marble inlay depicting stories from the Old Testament, while the original Facciatone, the monumental wall between the cathedral and its main entrance, remains unfinished. Inside the cathedral, visitors can admire its frescoes and sculptures, as well as the stunning vaulted ceiling decorated with gold stars. A visit to the baptistry and the church of Santa Chiara, which opens its doors in the afternoon, complete the experience. It is no surprise that the Duomo and Facciatone are the symbol of Siena and a must-see for any traveler.
