Yu Garden

Yu Garden or Yuyuan Garden is a classical Chinese garden located in Huangpu district, Shanghai. It is filled with beautiful classical Chinese styled gardens, pavilions, galleries, ponds, rockery and zigzag/ covered bridges. It was first constructed in 1559 during the Ming dynasty by Pan Yunduan, who intended it to be a comfort for his parents in their old age. It is known for its magnificent halls, exquisite carvings, and peaceful surroundings. There are six main scenic areas in the garden, and the garden reflects a strong cultural influence, such as in the design of the rocks, the ponds, pavilions and galleries. It is a great representation of the elegance and grace of ancient Chinese garden architecture. There are also many shops, restaurants and tea houses inside the garden, where you can experience the traditional charm and culture of China. Yu Garden is definitely a great spot to explore and visit if you are in Shanghai.
