St. Blaise's Church

St. Blaise's Church and Orlando's Column are two beloved Dubrovnik landmarks. In the city's main pedestrian square, the Stradun, stands the 5th century St. Blaise's Church in honor of the city's patron saint. Nearby, the historic Orlando's Column was erected in 1418 after Dubrovnik repelled an attack by the Ottoman Turks. The church is very ornate, brightly colored and decorated with Baroque elements. Orlando's Column is larger and more austere. From the top there is a great view of the Stradun and the orange-tiled rooftops of the city’s baroque houses. Both sites are popular tourist attractions, with loiters and vendors in the plaza.
