Mauao / Mount Maunganui summit

Mauao, or Mount Maunganui, is located at the entrance of Tauranga Harbour and is an iconic landmark of the city. It is an important sacred site for the local Maori people and is the subject of many popular songs in New Zealand. The summit of Mount Maunganui is accessible via hiking trails and can be reached in 15-20 minutes, depending on your fitness level.
