The three-story main keep stands at 36 meters tall and is the symbol of Matsue. The exterior of the castle is covered in thick earthen walls and its interior contains a complex network of small passageways. The grounds are also home to a large garden and pond, as well as salmon-viewing spots and cherry blossom trees.
