Kalyazinskaya Kolokol'nya

Kalyazinskaya Kolokol'nya is a bell tower located in Kalyazin, Russia. It stands on the remains of the old town of Kalyazin, which was submerged in the 1940s when authorities built the Uglich Reservoir. This iconic bell tower, 71 m in height, emerged from the deep waters of the reservoir during a massive drought in 2005. Every summer, it welcomes visitors who come to explore and admire its remarkable architecture. It is a beautiful example of Russian baroque architecture, and the bell tower also contains two chapels painted with traditional Russian motifs. There is a large flight of stairs that leads to the observation deck and the bells, giving visitors a bird’s eye view of the area. Despite being underwater for 60 years, the Kolokol'nya remains intact, providing a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape.
