Jardim Municipal de Ribeira Grande

Jardim Municipal de Ribeira Grande is an extensive 11-hectare public garden located in the city of Ribeira Grande on the island of Sao Miguel in Portugal. With its lush plants, well-maintained lawns, public amenities and river setting, it is a much-loved feature of this Azorean city.

The park’s riverbanks are well used for walking and jogging, while the bandstand and well-tended flowerbeds are enjoyed by visitors of all ages. There is a children’s playground, a skateboard park and miniature railway, as well as a beautiful lake with swans and ducks. There are plenty of benches too, great for taking a break and watching the locals out and about. For photographers, the waterfalls and lush vegetation provide many beautiful opportunities for capturing nature in action. The “Cavaliera” cobblestone path along the park’s edge is one of the city’s most emblematic spots, with views over the river and bridge below. In the warmer months, various outdoor concerts and festivities are hosted here.
