
Valkenburg Castle Ruins, nestled in the town of Valkenburg, Netherlands, is a must see destination for any traveler. The castle was originally built in 1227 and form the 1700s it was mainly used as an armory. The ruins are a great reminder of Valkenburg’s rich history and offer stunning views over the surrounding area.
It’s easy to access the ruins, just follow the signs or hire a local guide from the tourist office. From here it’s also possible to take a scenic walk to a 1000-year old chapel. You can take a tour of the grounds, or climb to the top of the tower for a better view. There’s a café located near the gatehouse, the perfect place to end your exploration.
