Union Station in Chicago is the Central Transportation Hub of the City. It is a grand building which was built in the neoclassical style in 1925. Spread over an area of 47,000 square feet, it is the third busiest rail station in US and links the south, west and north sides of the city. It is also the main hub for Amtrak and Metra trains. While here, don't forget to check out the 8 foot tall bronze eagle statue, four historical murals, western entrance trimmed with Indiana matrix limestone, four cupolas and the large waiting room. Be sure to spend some time sitting on the benches and admiring the splendour of the station. The station also functions as an urban marketfull of great food choices. Explore its various cafes, shops and pharmacies. There is also a well-stocked newsagent and an impressive food court.
