Tserkov' Spasa Nerukotvornogo Obraza, located in Ubory, Russia, is an architectural gem. It is the oldest parish church in the area, built by a wealthy merchant family, the Peyko-Lokhtins, in the early 19th century. The architecture of the two-story building, with its tall spires and colorful domes, is similar to the classic Russian orthodox churches. Inside the church, visitors will find beautiful icons and the traditional ornamental decorations typical to Eastern Orthodox churches. The walls are covered in frescoes of saints, angels and other religious motifs. The church is beautifully lit, and offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. An interesting note: in 1835, Tsar Nicholas I made a visit to the church, an event commemorated in paintings depicting the visit. While in Ubory, a visit to Tserkov' Spasa Nerukotvornogo Obraza is a must-see for any traveler.
