Reculver Towers is a twin-towered church located in the small coastal village of Reculver, in Kent, United Kingdom. It is a Grade I listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and part of a Roman fort complex survived from the Romano-British period. It was originally constructed around 669 A.D. as a monastery and later re-built as a church in 1053 by the Norman Conquest. Although it was destroyed in a storm in 1703, most of the ruins remain standing and are visible today. Visitors can explore the extensive grass lawns and admire the remarkable Romano-British architecture. Inside, visitors can view the impressive towers, the nave walls, and the remaining wooden roof timbers. Although the church is not in use today, recognizing it as a scheduled ancient monument, it is open to the public all year round.
