Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk - Church of Our Lady

The Church of Our Lady (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk) in Brugge, Belgium, is the most important religious landmark in the city and one of the most stunning examples of Gothic architecture in the country. The first church at the site dates back to the 9th century but the existing building seen today was built in the 13th century. The tower was added about 100 years later. The church's interior features a huge and ornate nave filled with intricate stained glass windows and intricate stonework. It is a breathtaking sight, especially with the elaborate mausoleum of Mary of Burgundy situated in one of the chapels. The Church of Our Lady is also home to a number of prestigious artworks, including one of Michelangelo’s oldest sculptures. Visitors should bring a camera as there are plenty of stunning sights to capture inside and out.
