Merton College

Merton College is one of the oldest colleges of the University of Oxford, England, having been founded in 1264. It is noted for its medieval buildings and tranquil gardens, making it one of Oxford's most picturesque destinations. The college features a gatehouse from the 14th century, a chapel with a fan-vaulted ceiling, and a library with a fantastic ceiling dating from the 17th century. The gardens are full of old trees and are criss-crossed by cobbled paths, offering plenty of picture opportunities for photographers. The college has had many notable alumni including chemist Robert Boyle, physicist Stephen Hawking, and writer J.R.R. Tolkien.
