Magpie mine

Magpie Mine, in Derbyshire, United Kingdom, is a former lead mine located on the limestone ridge known as the Eagle's Nest. The mine operated from 1650 to 1979 and during its peak it was the deepest and most productive lead mine in Europe. Visitors to the mine will experience a true blast from the past, as the site still features its original mine buildings, such as the winding engine house, boiler house, powder magazine, and the 'office'. Visitors can wander through a drifts and enjoy spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. Take a walk to, or even beneath, the famous Roger Rainpits, and immerse yourself in the wild, wet, underground maze of tunnels, shafts and passages to explore.
