Jakobikirchplatz and St. Jakobi are two of the most beautiful sights in Chemnitz, Germany. The Church of St. Jakobi (Jakobikirche) is an old brick church, built in 1355 in the Middle Ages, and it is the largest church in the city. It has a beautiful Gothic interior and two asymmetric towers, one of them more decorated with sculptures. The impressive building is even more visible when viewed from Jakobikirchplatz, a historic square, which still retains its medieval market character. This square is home to a small fountain and a sculpture of the "Fabelhafte Bestie" (Fabulous Bestiary), a work of art by the German sculptor Otto°Kurz. Visitors can find traditional and modern restaurants, art galleries and cafes in the area. Exploring the streets around Jakobikirchplatz is also a must.
