Iglesia de Santa Coloma

Iglesia de Santa Coloma is a small Carthusian monastery located in the village of Albendiego, in the arid suburbs of Logroño, Spain. The church dates back to the eighth century and is constructed in the Romanesque style. It features a single, square-shaped bell tower, with four bay windows and two round turrets. The church is surrounded by a wall which also surrounds an enclosure with a small cloister, garden and two-story annex. Inside the church, visitors can admire a large, three-aisled nave and transept as well as a small choir area located at the top of the staircase. Frescoes and murals painted by local artists also decorate the walls, making it a truly unique example of Romanesque architecture. Visitors can experience breathtaking views of the surrounding region and the Sierra de la Demanda from the church grounds, which are particularly breathtaking during the sunset.
