Ermita de las Nieves

Ermita de las Nieves is situated on the slopes of Hacha Peak, looking over La Orotava Valley in Tenerife, Spain. The Hermitage is of Spanish Baroque origin and was built in the 18th century, although it has undergone many modifications since.

You can access it through a walk approx. 45 minutes long that runs through a beautiful pine tree forest with landscapes that you'll find hard to forget. It doesn't have stair-steps either, just a gentle climb through the forest. Once inside you can feel the great atmosphere the temple emits. While you are there, you can observe its original courtyards and its epitaphs in marble which will lead you into its spacious church. You can find flowers, fruit and a framed portrait of Santa Catalina de Ricci, who protected the Captain of La Orotava from a storm at sea. Be sure to be prepared for your visit, as the weather conditions might surprise you. If you are looking for some peace and harmony, a visit to Ermita de las Nieves is definitely worth it.
