
The Chess Pavilion, in Chicago, United States, is a unique and iconic space honoring the city’s vibrant chess history. Located in Millennium Park, the Chess Pavilion is made up of 20 tons of soft Tennessee marble and is the world’s largest outdoor chess set. It stands 10 feet tall and 9 feet wide, with 64 giant chess pieces carved from a volcanic rock from Baja California. It also houses two life-size bronze sculptures of chess players made by Italian sculptors Gino Miles and Gabriele Mazzota. Each of the chess pieces features detailed markings to ensure that they look and feel like real chess pieces.
