Charleston Fire Department, located in the heart of downtown Charleston, is the oldest continuously staffed fire department in the country. It is located on Meeting Street, which is also home to some of the most stunning architecture in the city. Walking down this famous street, you can not only spot some of the city's main attractions, such as the Old Exchange Building and the Calhoun Mansion, but also some of the best restaurants and cafes. As you go up Meeting Street, you will find yourself surrounded by some of the city's most iconic mansions, dating back to the early 19th century. As you venture further, you will also find beautiful parks, including Waterfront Park, where you can admire stunning views of the harbor. From here you can also catch spectacular sunsets, while also enjoying a cooling breeze coming from the sea. The street also hosts some of the city's liveliest street markets, full of interesting products - including some vintage items - and food.
