Brougham Castle is a castle ruin located in Cumbria, United Kingdom. It was a medieval castle built in the 13th century by the Archbishop of York, Robert de Romilly. The castle was built to protect the area from Scottish invaders. The castle was rebuilt in the 14th century and was held by various noble families until the 17th century when it was abandoned due to the civil war.
