The Basler Straßenansichten is a place of homage to the birthplace of photography. The first color photographs were first displayed here in 1858. Since then, the home of photography has become a permanent art installation. Located in Basel, Switzerland, the installation has been created with a selection of around 80 photos of historical places and buildings in the Oberabtei area of the city. The photographs have been taken from the same vantage point, giving viewers a unique view of the changing times of the city. Though the photographs do not feature any people or animals, the achingly beautiful setting of Basel makes the photos compelling. Photographers will find a wealth of interesting angles and unique perspectives here that are ideal for capturing the beauty of the city.
