Basler Straßenansichten

The Basler Straßenansichten is a place of homage to the birthplace of photography. The first color photographs were first displayed here in 1858. Since then, the home of photography has become a permanent art installation. Located in Basel, Switzerland, the installation has been created with a selection of around 80 photos of historical places and buildings in the Oberabtei area of the city. The photographs have been taken from the same vantage point, giving viewers a unique view of the changing times of the city. Though the photographs do not feature any people or animals, the achingly beautiful setting of Basel makes the photos compelling.
