China Zun, officially known as CITIC Tower, is a 528-meter office skyscraper in Beijing’s Central Business District in Chaoyang and the city’s tallest building. Its nickname and shape draw on the zun, an ancient Chinese ceremonial wine vessel: the tower narrows through its middle before widening again toward the crown, echoing the vessel’s flared form. This reference to traditional bronze craftsmanship gives cultural meaning to an otherwise distinctly modern glass-and-steel landmark. Unlike skyscrapers that taper to a spire, China Zun has a broad, open-looking summit, making its silhouette recognizable across the eastern Beijing skyline. At street level, the inward-curving sides accentuate its immense scale, while the glass façade reflects neighboring towers and the sky.
