Zdaniye Birzhi Truda is the former labor exchange of prewar Königsberg, standing in the western part of central Kaliningrad. Designed by East Prussian architect Hanns Hopp, it reflects the functional interwar modernism that reshaped the city beyond its older Gothic and historicist landmarks. Its restrained brick elevations, long horizontal massing and repeated window bays express the building’s original administrative purpose, while strong geometric volumes create changing patterns of light and shadow. It is a notable surviving fragment of Königsberg’s twentieth-century civic architecture within the modern Russian city.
