Zarauzko Dama (Basque for Zarautz Lady) is a large sculpture in Zarautz, Spain. Located on the El Helechal promenade at the waterfront, the surrealist sculpture – created by Jon Zarate in 1995 – shows a woman, who stands tall and proud with her arms spread wide to represent freedom and peace. The sculpture is considered an important landmark in the city of Zarautz and gives a unique identity to its promenade. Zarauzko Dama is made of steel sheets, and its colors have been carefully chosen to create a simple but striking contrast between the vibrant blue of the Bay of Biscay and the sculpture's white aluminum. Visitors can enjoy the sculpture's reflection in the sea, creating a truly remarkable sight.
