📍 Poland
The Royal Castle in Poznań stands on Przemysł Hill, just west of the Old Market Square, overlooking the historic city center. Its origins are linked to Przemysł II, the 13th-century duke of Greater Poland who became king of Poland, giving the site an important place in the history of the Polish monarchy. Much of the castle visible today is a modern reconstruction rather than surviving medieval fabric, a useful distinction when viewing its imposing tower and steep red roofs. The complex houses the Museum of Applied Arts, part of the National Museum in Poznań. From the castle tower, the Old Town unfolds as a dense pattern of tiled rooftops, with the Renaissance Town Hall providing a distinctive focal point.
