📍 From Baltalimanı Hisar Caddesi, Türkiye
Yusuf Ziya Paşa Köşkü stands on the European shore of the Bosphorus at Rumelihisarı in Sarıyer, beside the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge. Built as a private mansion in the early 20th century, it is better known as Perili Köşk, or “Haunted Mansion.” Its red-brick walls, pale stone detailing and tall, pointed turret give it a distinctive silhouette among the waterfront buildings. The bridge’s enormous span creates a striking contrast with the mansion’s intricate architecture, placing two very different eras of Istanbul in the same frame. Today, the building houses Borusan Contemporary, which presents contemporary art within a working corporate office; public visits are limited to weekends. The exhibitions add another layer to the setting, bringing contemporary visual culture into a historic Bosphorus residence.
