Yosemite Falls

Yosemite Falls, located in Yosemite Valley in California, United States, is one of the tallest waterfalls in the world. The overall drop is 2,425 feet (739 metres), making it one of the largest waterfalls in North America. With Yosemite Valley lying in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, the waterfall flows from their peaks down into the valley below. The lower Yosemite Fall drops 320 meters in two stages. In the spring, the powerful fall is a beautiful, thunderous display - often seen with a rainbow caused by the mist that rises from it. In the winter, however, the falls freeze, creating a majestic landscape of glistening ice, making it a true marvel of nature. Visitors to the area can take in breathtaking views of the falls from across the valley, and hike up treacherous, yet rewarding trails to get to its base. The trail to the top is a long and challenging, but still a commendable conquest for hikers. Park rangers, guided hikes and bus tours all offer opportunities to visit the falls, as well as many other attractions throughout the park.
