Ichinomiya Beach is a broad Pacific-facing strand in Ichinomiya, part of Chōsei District in Chiba Prefecture and near the southern end of the long Kujūkuri coast. The area is closely associated with Japan’s surfing culture, with consistent ocean swells bringing surfers beyond the summer swimming season. Its photographic character comes from the flat sandy foreground, foamy wave lines, and an uninterrupted eastern horizon; sunrise often produces strong silhouettes of surfers and reflections across wet sand. Coastal structures and the scale of the open ocean add graphic contrast to the otherwise spare landscape.
