Yaquina Head Lighthouse is located on a rugged promontory in Newport, Oregon and is the tallest lighthouse in Oregon at 93 feet. This beautiful and picturesque lighthouse has been a navigational aid to ships since its construction in 1873. With its dramatic height, the lighthouse provides excellent panoramic ocean views and offers a unique opportunity for viewing wildlife. The nearby tidepools are brimming with creatures including sea anemones, starfish, sea urchins, and colorful seaweed. A half-mile interpretive trail showcases the diverse ecosystem and spectacular coastal views. The exclusive Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, located next to the lighthouse, is a great spot to observe a variety of birds including ospreys and double-crested cormorants.
