Würzburg Residence
📍 From Felsenbrunnen, Germany
The Würzburg Residence and Felsenbrunnen in Würzburg, Germany is a majestic complex of buildings with lovely garden and surrounding views. The centrepiece of the complex is the extravagant palace, formerly the residence of the princely bishops of Würzburg. Built in the Baroque style, this palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is suffused with a grand air of lavishness. The Felsenbrunnen, German for 'fountain of the rock', is a similarly impressive structure, towering over the gardens. It is adorned with portraits from the residence and is crowned by a magnificent statue of Hercules. The grounds at the complex also feature several interesting and beautiful sculptures, as well as labyrinths, water fountains and cascades, and gardens. Exploring the grounds and admiring the architecture makes for a very enjoyable visit—there is no shortage of amazing sights here!
